Treadmills
Running is the best exercise. Winter weather and traffic can make running unpleasant and difficult. Gym workouts can include a treadmill, but this can require commuting. A home treadmill is best to get in shape and stay in shape.
Treadmills vary. A good choice to start is the highly rated Bowflex Series 7 treadmill.
This treadmill is on sale for $1,799 including shipping. Please note that you will need at least 2 strong guys to put it where you want it, because it is heavy. 20”x60” running surface. The deck suspension has a soft landing and firm lift-off. Folds up to 41″ x 35″ x 66 ”. Built-in wheels for rolling (I leave my treadmill where it is, but wheels are good for the occasional move.) Speeds from .5 to 11 mph. This means, from barely walking, to less than 5:30 per mile pace (high speed NOT recommended, run longer NOT faster for health). Inclines from 0-12%, 2.5” rollers. Warranty: frame – 15 years, motor – 10 years, parts & electronics – 1 year and labor – 1 year.
One thing I like about this model is that you can put on a chest-strap pulse reader, and the monitor will show you your heartbeat while you are running. Helps you to train safely. For more info click here for Bowflex Series 7 Treadmill.
There are cheaper treadmills, for example the Bowflex 3 series. But I would recommend the Series 7 described above.
